The voice of Ra’s Al Ghul

After more than three years of work on the project, Scott is thrilled to announce that he voices Ra’s al Ghul in TT Games Ltd‘s LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight, which launched on 22 May 2025 and has been met with widespread acclaim, as reflected in its reviews.

In addition to portraying Ra’s al Ghul in the game, Scott also serves as the narrator for a substantial portion of the official launch trailer, which you can watch at the bottom of this post. Scott became involved with the project at a very early stage, initially providing voices for a variety of characters to help support the game’s development and approval process. Following the project’s green light, he was officially cast as Ra’s al Ghul, the iconic leader of the League of Shadows, a character famously portrayed by Liam Neeson in Batman Begins.

As recording sessions progressed, Scott was invited to take on an additional role: the persistent and unpredictable villain Firefly. He also lent his voice to the world-weary, battle-hardened Gotham detective Harvey Bullock, adding another familiar character from the Batman universe to his growing list of performances in the game. You might also hear him voice a host of goons and thugs in the open-world of Gotham.

Scott is thrilled to announce that he will be appearing as a special guest at Sci-Fi World Expo in the beautiful Swedish city of Jönköping on 14th–15th March.

As part of the build-up to the event, Scott has created a brand-new promotional video to celebrate the occasion. The video features a very special appearance from a character who played a pivotal role in launching Scott into the exciting world of fan conventions: The Emperor from Baldur’s Gate 3.

For longtime fans, The Emperor needs no introduction — a complex and commanding presence steeped in mystery and rich with backstory. Including him in this promo feels like a fitting full-circle moment.

As Luto continues to gain popularity in the gaming world, Scott’s performances in it have gained him another award nomination and in the category of ‘Best Performance’ at The Horror Game Awards’. He was up against some Industry big hitters but just to receive this recognition is fantastic and a testament to all the effort Broken Bird Games put in and Scott’s commitment to it.

On a side note, nothing screams ‘you need new headshots!’ more than when you discover you have been shortlisted for an award and the organisers use an image of you that is, shall we say, a few years old now. So Scott is on the hunt for a really good photographer who can capture his best side … probably his back!

Promoted to Captain

Back in April 2024, Scott was approached by the game developers at Capstan Games about being the voice of Captain Pennington, the main character in some early game material they were putting together to secure funding for their project entitle Ahoy.

An engaging open-world game set in the West Indies, 1780, a period of history where empires collide, revolution broods and the tropical waters of the Caribbean offer many delights as well as danger and treachery.

After a few remote directed sessions, with Scott working from his studio, some cutting edge facial capture experimentation, the team at Capstan Games had enough material for the time being.

Narrating the Launch Trailer…

A few months later Capstan Games were working towards the release of their official launch trailer and kickstarter campaign at the Future Games Show 2025 – Summer Showcase.

Ahoy is a game steeped in history that is seeking to be as historically accurate as humanly possible! So for those wishing to delve a little deeper in 18th Century West Indies, Capstan Games got Scott to narrate this wonderful documentary…

The kickstarter campaign has proven to be a huge success, garnering great interest in the project and securing funding to get the project out of dry dock into open water*. Keep in touch further developments…

The team at Broken Bird Games approached Scott earlier this year about being the voice of their Indie physicological horror game about death and someone who is not able to leave home. The fact that he voiced the whole thing from his professional studio seemed to entirely in-keeping with the game’s premise, and having voiced through late Spring – Early Summer, a few weeks ago, the game’s trailer launched at the Future Games Show Summer Showcase 2025!

The trailer, like the game, features voices from Scott and gives a real flavour of what to expect from the game itself, which is released on 22nd July 2025 and will be available on Steam, Epic Games Store, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S!

OH WHAT A NIGHT!

Over 4200 voiceover submissions had been made anonymously for the One Voice Awards, there largest ever! It was the job of a panel of undisclosed judges, each an Industry professional and expert in their own right, to whittle the entries down to just over 250 finalists across 32 categories.

The awards ceremony took place in Central London on the evening of Saturday 17th May 2025 and Scott Joseph had been shortlisted for 3 awards, including the Male Voiceover Artist of the Year! One the night, Scott won in the following category:

A short while ago the developers over at Neople, together with publishers, Nexon, launched the hard-core action / adventure role-playing game ‘The First Berserker: Khazan’.

Scott is very excited to announce that he voiced the character of Danjin in this game (pictured). Danjin is a curious fellow, who has taken to wearing a jar on his head and a rose in his mouth. An enthusiast on all things jar related, he is also a merchant who sells unique Jar Helms and other rare trinkets. If you encounter him in the game yourself, why not stop and chat, it might be mutually beneficial.

Danjin was a really fun character to record for Scott, utilising a soft RP tone and more of his natural upper vocal range. Watch this space for a clip of Danjin, coming soon…

The Entertainment Globalization Association (EGA) hosted the 2025 Hermes Awards for Localization Excellence in Los Angeles at the start of April. Earlier in the year the nominations had been announced and a programme I had scripted and narrated the Audio Description for at Red Bee Media Ltd., was shortlisted in the category for ‘Best Audio Description for a Series’.

The programme was an episode of a multi-award winning children’s TV show for BBC Studios, called ‘Bluey: Sleepytime’. All nominees were invited to write an article for a special Hermes Award edition of The Reteller Magazine by Entertainment Globalization Association, I wrote mine with guidence from my colleague and good friend, Marie Campbell (Audio Description Excellence Lead at Red Bee Media)

Earlier this month the Hermes Awards ceremony took place in Los Angeles and I am excited to say that I won! I was actually working in Phoenix, Arizona at the time and so a colleague collected the award. I am proud to be a member of an incredibly talented and dedicated Audio Description team at Red Bee Media Ltd. Crafting Audio Description is an important part of my working life and something I have had the privilege to do for over 25 years. To have my work recognised with this prestigious international award is truly a great honour.
